A 17-year-old girl died after she was allegedly mauled by her father inside their house in Sagay City, Negros Occidental, Monday morning, March 9 .
Authorities arrested the suspect, identified as Joedin Braza, 41, a tricycle driver and the father of the victim.
The police said the victim’s grandfather went to the police station and reported that the suspect had forcibly locked the victim inside their house at Fortuneville Subdivision, Barangay Rizal.
Responding officers proceeded to the residence and forcibly opened the door after both the suspect and victim remained silent inside.
Police said the victim was found lying face down on the floor covered in blood while the suspect was sitting on a bed inside the room.
The victim was rushed to the Alfredo E. Marañon Sr. Memorial District Hospital where she was declared dead.
Police said the alleged motive of the incident was a misunderstanding between the suspect and the victim.
The suspect was brought to the Sagay City police station for documentation and filing of appropriate charges.
The Scene of the Crime Operatives of the Provincial Forensic Unit processed the crime scene as investigation continues.*
