A P5.2 million fire hit a condominium building being constructed at Megaworld’s The Upper East in Bacolod City Thursday morning, February 1, the Bacolod Fire Station reported.
The fire hit the third and fourth floors of the 14-story building damaging a floor area of 130 square meters, it said
At around 11:42 a.m. Thursday fire broke out at a portion of the third and fourth levels of their construction site and was put out at 12:34 p.m., MRK Construction said in a statement.
“This building is still under the responsibility of our company, and we are closely coordinating with the developer, Megaworld, as well as with the local fire authorities as to what caused the fire. We will cooperate in the investigation of this incident,” MRK Construction said.
Chief Insp. Stephen Jardeleza, Bacolod City Fire Marshal, said there were building materials, including combustible materials, in the area where the fire hit.
They have identified the origin of the fire but are determining what triggered it, he said.
They are conducting a thorough investigation of the incident and are asking for a list of the persons who entered the area where the fire occurred, he said.*
