P476K in suspected shabu seized in Bacolod buy-bust

The police arrested a construction worker and seized P476,000 worth of suspected shabu in a buy-bust operation in Brgy. Mandalagan, Bacolod City, on Monday, Oct. 13.

The operation, conducted by the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), resulted in the arrest of a high-value suspect identified as alias “Gar,” 39, of Purok Sitio Lupakon, Brgy. Ilaya, Calatrava, Negros Occidental.

Authorities said about 70 grams of suspected shabu were confiscated from the suspect during the operation, with an estimated standard drug price of P476,000.

Police said the buy-bust stemmed from an intelligence report about the suspect’s involvement in the distribution of illegal drugs at construction sites in Bacolod City.

Surveillance and coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) confirmed his activities, leading to the entrapment operation.

The suspect is currently detained at Bacolod Police Station 3 and will face charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

BGen. Arnold Thomas C. Ibay, Negros Island Region police director, said that the significant drug haul demonstrates the PNP’s continued vigilance as the city welcomes thousands of revelers for the MassKara Festival.*
