Over P1.6M in shabu seized, five arrested in Dumaguete

Authorities seized more than P1.6 million worth of suspected shabu and arrested five suspects in a series of anti-drug operations conducted Saturday, March 7, in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental.

Police said the operations were carried out under the Simultaneous Anti-Criminality Law Enforcement Operations (SACLEO) and OPLAN N.A.I.L.E.D. targeting illegal drug activities in Barangay Looc.

The Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office led the coordinated operations with support from the Dumaguete City Police Station, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, and the Philippine Highway Patrol Team.

In a buy-bust operation conducted around 3:51 a.m. in Zone 7, Barangay Looc, operatives arrested a high-value individual identified as alias “Epax,” 25.

Police seized about 50 grams of suspected shabu with a standard drug price of P340,000 during the operation.

Another operation was conducted around 3:59 a.m. in Zone 2 Upper, Barangay Looc, through the implementation of a search warrant for violation of Republic Act 9165.

Operatives arrested another high-value individual identified as alias “Tony,” 45, also a resident of Barangay Looc.

Authorities seized about 66.3 grams of suspected shabu with a standard drug price of P450,840.

Recovered from the suspect were 15 elongated heat-sealed plastic sachets and 10 medium-sized sachets containing suspected shabu, an aluminum foil roll, and a small black backpack.

Police said the search warrant was secured after intelligence information and surveillance confirmed the suspect’s alleged involvement in illegal drug activities.

The police said they also arrested three high-value individuals and seized 121.3 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated value of P824,849.

Authorities also arrested another suspect during an entrapment operation involving loose firearms.

Police recovered a .45 caliber pistol with four live ammunition from the suspect.

CIDG operatives also arrested the Regional Most Wanted Person No. 3 in Negros Oriental during the operation.

The Philippine Highway Patrol Team also conducted checkpoints and traffic law enforcement operations that resulted in the issuance of nine temporary operator’s permits and seven citation tickets to motorists who committed violations.

Police said the operations demonstrate strong coordination among law enforcement agencies in the campaign against illegal drugs and criminality in Negros Oriental.*
