
A total of 6,972 candidates in the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) in Negros Occidental and Bacolod City have filed their Statements of Contributions and Expenditures (SOCE) before the Commission on Elections, Provincial Election Supervisor Ian Lee Ananoria said Monday, Nov. 27.
The number represents only 23.48 percent of the 29,682 candidates who ran in the October 30 polls.
Candidates who won and lost have until Wednesday, November 29, to submit their SOCEs to the Comelec, Ananoria said.
The candidates who submitted their SOCEs from Nov. 6 to 25 for barangay captain posts were 685 and kagawads – 4,881, SK chairperson – 343 and SK members – 1,063, Comelec records show.
In Bacolod City 565 candidates filed there SOCEs.
“Every candidate shall, within 30 days after the day of the election, file in duplicate with the offices of the Commission the full, true, and itemized statement of all contributions and expenditures in connection with the election”, Republic Act 7166 states.
Any SOCE filed beyond the deadline will not be accepted.*
