Mayor Gerry Rojas, Vice Mayor Johnny Reosura and eight candidates for Sangguniang Bayan members filed their Certificates of Candidacy before the Commission on Elections in Murcia on Tuesday, Oct. 1.
“I am officially running for my third and last term as Chief Executive of Murcia…I pray that God will bless us with the opportunity to continue to be of service to the people of Murcia in the next three years,” Rojas said in a press release in Wednesday.
The incumbent Sangguniang Bayan members who are seeking re-election under “Paspas Asenso Murcia” are Kedy Yu, Anton Gonzaga, Pidong Villarosa, Philip Belleza and Hernan Alintana.
Completing the “Paspas Asenso Murcia” slate are Joey Gomez, replacement for his father, graduating SB Member Bebot Gomez; businessman Francoise Ginson, who wants to use his business skills and connections for the benefit of his fellow Muricahanons; and SB JR Gravino, who replaced his deceased elder sister SB Tata Gravino, and is now running for what is considered as his first term.
Rojas said there has been a vast improvement in public services and numerous big impact infrastructure projects here in Murcia during his first two terms as mayor.
“All I aspire is to complete my three terms, so that I can finish everything that I have dreamed of for our beloved town, and I can implement more legacy projects which can benefit Murciahanons until the next generations,” Rojas said.
Their group of candidates are composed of tested and proven veteran public servants, as well as young, talented and very promising aspirants, Reosura said.
Lending his support and demonstrating his unity with the entire “Paspas Asenso Murcia” slate was Provincial Board Member Andrew Montelibano, a former Murcia mayor, the press release said.
“So far there has been no other candidates who have filed their certificates. While we respect the rights of every Murciahanon to run for public office, I hope there will be no more candidates so that we can have a smooth and orderly election,” Montelibano said.
“Let us all support the candidacies of Mayor Gerry Rojas, Vice Mayor Johnny Reosura and all the SB members”, Montelibano said.*
