Senator Manuel “Lito” Lapid and Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson pledged their support to complete the construction of the P190 million Punta Talaban Bridge during the Himaya Festival in Himamaylan City on Sunday, April 7.

Lacson, in his speech, said that he will find a way to get funding for the completion of the project in Himamaylan City.

“I passed by your bridge earlier today and saw its situation. With this, I will allocate funds for the bridge,” Lacson said as the road on both ends of the bridge needs to be concreted.

Lapid echoed the support of Lacson, saying “since the governor will allocate the budget for the bridge, I will immediately approve whatever projects you propose to my office.”

The Punta Talaban Bridge aims to connect Sitio Punta Talaban to Talaban Proper. It will also ease the access going to barangays Aguisan and Sara-et.

Mayor Raymund Tongson said that the bridge has also been becoming one of the attractions of the city, as it gives a picturesque view of the sunset by the sea.

The mayor thanked the officials who pledged to help fund the completion of the bridge, which will boost economic growth in the area.*
