NPC chairman looking into Sy complaint on pa’s replacement

Senate President Vicente Sotto III, chairman of the Nationalist People’s Coalition, is looking into the complaint of the daughter of the late councilor Elmer Sy on the nomination of the replacement of her father in the Bacolod City council.

Psyche Marie “Pao” Sy, who is running for Bacolod councilor, has cried foul over the endorsement by some Grupo Progreso (GP) officials of Marlon Solidum to assume the vacated seat of her father.

The endorsement made by some GP officials of their councilor candidate to be the NPC replacement of her father in the SP “was made clearly to circumvent our election laws and other existing laws because the signatories had, after signing, signified their candidacy and took their oath under the Nacionalista Party”.

Pao Sy raised her complaint with Sotto when he was in Bacolod City on Saturday, mayoral candidate Alfredo “Albee” Benitez said.

Solidum was nominated by NPC members who joined the NPC, Benitez said.

Sotto is looking into it and he believes it should not be the case, Benitez added.*
