The New People’s Army admitted burning P7 million worth of agricultural equipment in Hacienda San Jose Baling, Barangay Libacao in Himamaylan City, around 11 p.m. on Sunday, March 8.
Burned were tractors, cranes and backhoes.
The caretaker said the fire started from a tractor parked near the fuel storage area and spread to nearby heavy equipment.
Dionesio Magbuelaa, spokesperson of the Romeo Nanta Command – New People’s Army, South Central Negros Guerrilla Front, said the burning of the heavy equipment was punishment for the farm owner’s allegedly “exploiting the workers”.*
