NONECO raises power rates, too

The Northern Negros Electric Cooperative announced a 24-centavo per kilowatt-hour increase in its power rates for January, from P13.1125/kWh to P13.3601/kWh.

The increase was caused by the P0.2476/kWh hike in the ancillary service charge of the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines in the reserve market, a press release from NONECO said.

NONECO also said that 12.06 percent of the total charges this month went to the cooperatives distribution, supply, and metering charges which is P1.6109/kWh.

The Negros Electric and Power Corporation and Negros Occidental Electric Cooperative earlier also announced increases in their power rates for January.

Negros Power’s January rate is P11.6971/kilowatt-hour, a 50-centavo increase from December.

NOCECO said its current electricity rate is at P14.2216/kWh, P0.2673 higher than in December.*
