NOCECO rates down P2/kWh

Good news for electric consumers in southern  Negros Occidental.

The Negros Occidental Electric Cooperative announced a P2 decrease in its current electricity rates, from P13.3051 per kilowatt-hour last month to P11.1567/kWh this month.

The P2.1484/kWh decrease in power rates was caused by a drop in the generation charge by P2.0290/kWh this month, a NOCECO press release said.

The Wholesale Electricity Spot Market has decreased its energy cost by P2.6134/kWh.

Palm Concepcion Power Corporation (PCPC) rates also decreased from P8.7774/kWh in February to P8.5831/kWh this March.

With the high heat index recently recorded, NOCECO also expects a significant increase in electricity consumption for cooling purposes.

It said that this demand will translate to higher energy prices in the spot market.

NOCECO advised their electric consumers to be aware of their energy consumption to avoid paying high electricity bills.*
