The Department of Transportation (DOTr) will accept new public-private partnership proposals for the expansion of the Bacolod- Silay Airport, Bacolod Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez said on Tuesday, August 27.
According to the DOTr there was an original PPP proposal for the Bacolod-Silay Airport but it has not moved, Benitez said.
“I think the DOTr is set to cancel that original proponent’s status and accept new proposals,” he said.
Benitez said he knows that there is already one firm that has proposed to upgrade the Bacolod Silay Airport.
“They did come here to take a look at the airport,” Benitez said.
In 2020 Udenna Infra Corp., a Davao-based infrastructure firm, had presented an unsolicited proposal to develop, operate and maintain the airport.
Secretary Francisco Benitez, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) director general, said on Monday that the DOTr had allocated P80 to P100 million for repairs at the airport that started last year.
That does not include the airport expansion that will be covered by a PPP, he said.*
