Negros Oriental police seized more than P15.2 million worth of allegedly smuggled cigarettes, arrested 31 wanted persons and confiscated more than P532,000 worth of suspected shabu in operations conducted during the first 10 days of August.
The Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office said 11 operations against cigarette smuggling from Aug. 1 to 10 resulted in the arrest of three persons and the confiscation of items with an estimated value of P15,217,770.
Police also conducted 31 operations against wanted persons, resulting in the arrest of 31 individuals.
Those arrested included one regional-level most wanted person, three provincial-level most wanted persons, two city or municipal-level most wanted persons and 25 other wanted persons.
In its anti-illegal drug campaign, police conducted 16 operations that resulted in the arrest of one high-value individual and 17 street-level individuals.
Authorities confiscated about 78.35 grams of suspected shabu with a standard drug price of P532,780.
Four operations against loose firearms resulted in the arrest of two persons and the confiscation of two firearms, while two other firearms were surrendered to authorities.
Police also conducted six operations against illegal gambling, arresting 11 persons and confiscating P1,924 worth of money and gambling-related articles.
Meanwhile, the enforcement of local ordinances resulted in 2,849 citations and the impounding of 124 motor vehicles.*
