The Negros Occidental Provincial Joint Security Control Center (PJSCC) will convene on Dec. 12 to discuss security concerns for the May 2025 midterm elections, Commission on Elections Negros Island Region Director Lionel Marco Castillano said on Tuesday, Dec. 3.
Castillano said election hotspots and areas of concern in the Negros Island Region have yet to be determined.
The first Regional Joint Security Control Center meeting is scheduled in January, there is still time to assess the election situation of the NIR, Castillano said.
If there are areas of concern or possible hotspots, they will be recommended to the RJSCC based on information from the police and military, he said.
There is a proper process before areas can be declared hotspots or election areas of concern, Castillano said.*
