NegOcc crime rate drops by 13 percent in 2024

The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) recorded a decrease in crime incidents in 2024 by 13 percent compared to 2023.

A NOCPPO report said that from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31, 2024, crime incidents in the province were 3,885, which were 586 or 13.11 percent lower than the same period in 2023, when they were at 4,471.

The reduction can be attributed to the sustained efforts of the police force, which include increased patrols, community engagement initiatives, and proactive law enforcement tactics designed to prevent criminal activities, the NOCPPO said.

The police also said that their collaboration with local government units, community organizations, and other stakeholders has been vital in creating a safer environment for the residents of the province.

The NOCPPO said the 13.11 percent reduction in crime incidents is a positive indicator of the effectiveness of the police’s crime prevention strategies and reflects the growing trust and cooperation between the community and law enforcers.

The police urged the public to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities, as community involvement is crucial in maintaining peace and order.*
