National gov’t okay sought for building PAC in Talisay

The Negros Occidental provincial government is waiting for the final advice of the national government before it can begin construction of the new Provincial Administration Center in Talisay City, Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz said Monday, December 13.

They are seeking permission because the bidding conducted was for its construction in the Capitol area in Bacolod City, he said.

They want to know if it is okay not to hold another bidding to build the PAC using the same design in Talisay City, Diaz said.

The bidding for the construction of the PAC was won by Dynamic Builders, which also won the bid to lease the site of the old PAC next to the Capitol building.

The old PAC building has not been demolished yet as it is still being used as a dormitory for health care workers who cannot immediately go home as a COVID-19 precaution, he said.

Meanwhile, the renovation of the track oval of international standards at the Paglaum Sports Complex in Bacolod City has been completed, Diaz said.

Renovation of the bleachers, covered court for basketball and volleyball and swimming pool, and the construction of an additional tennis court are underway, he added.

The Negros Occidental Food Terminal at the North Capitol Road in Bacolod has also been energized and the ordinance setting rent rates for space in the facility is about to be approved by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan on third and final reading, Diaz said.*
