The election of the officers of the Liga ng mga Barangay in Murcia, Negros Occidental, will be held on December 15, in compliance with the schedule mandated by the Department of the Interior and Local Government and the Liga ng mga Barangay sa Pilipinas.
“The Liga ng mga Barangay election in Murcia was initially scheduled on December 12, in compliance with the DILG Memorandum Circular No. 2023-183 issued on November 21, which provides that the Liga election for highly urbanized cities, cities and municipalities should be conducted not later than December 15,” said Murcia DILG Head Marisa Costelo in a press release on Sunday, Dec. 3.
“In light of the memo from the Liga ng mga Barangay ng Pilipinas issued on November 29, we will hold the synchronized Liga election on December 15, together with other municipalities, cities and highly urbanized cities,” Costelo added.
Murcia is composed of 23 barangays. The town’s newly-elected barangay officials took their oaths of office before Mayor Gerry M. Rojas during a mass oath-taking ceremony Nov. 17.*
