In line with the Municipality of Murcia’s continuing improvement of the local government’s services, Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson, Murcia Mayor Gerry Rojas and the Office of 3rd District Rep. Francisco “Kiko” Benitez turned over six brand-new multi-purpose vehicles to six barangays, recently.

“Congratulations to the Punong Barangays of Barangay Canlandog, Sta. Rosa, Sta. Cruz, Caliban, Abu-Abo and Blumentritt for being the first batch to avail of this service vehicle upgrading program through a counterparting scheme”, Rojas said.

“We are fortunate that the provincial government headed by Gov. Bong Lacson and the Office of Rep. Kiko Benitez supported us in this program. When they learned that we are embarking on counterparting as the means in procuring the vehicles, Gov. Lacson and Rep. Benitez readily agreed to help us,” the mayor said.

The funds for the purchase of the six vehicles came from the provincial government and the office of Benitez, with counterpart funds from the local government of Murcia and the recipient barangays.

Rojas said the funds from his office, Lacson and Benitez are ready for the purchase of vehicles for the remaining 17 barangays that have not yet availed of the program, as soon as these barangays contribute their share in the counterparting scheme.

“Take very good care of these vehicles, so that your constituents can make use of them for a long time,” Lacson said.

“Good maintenance is the key in ensuring that the vehicles will last for a long time. If possible, only one driver should be authorized to drive and maintain the vehicle, so that there will be a designated person who can take responsibility for the vehicle’s maintenance,” the governor added.

ABC President and Sangguniang Bayan Member Jenny Jimenea thanked Lacson, Benitez and Rojas for supporting the barangays in their need for additional service vehicles.

“These service vehicles are a huge help in serving the transport needs of our constituents at all times of the day and night. Rest assured that my fellow Punong Barangays will take good care of these vehicles, so that they can serve their purpose for a long time,” Jimenea said.*PR
