A 19-year-old senior high school student died after his motorcycle crashed into the rear of a cargo truck along the national road in Brgy. Malabugas, Bayawan City, Negros Oriental, 3:20 a.m. Sunday morning, Dec. 7.
Police said the victim was traveling from Brgy. Pagatban toward Bayawan City proper when the accident happened at around 3:20 a.m.
Witnesses told investigators that a Mazda Bongo truck was parked on the sidewalk due to a mechanical problem.
The truck had no driver present and no early warning device placed behind it, the police said.
The victim slammed into the back of the truck and suffered severe injuries.
He was brought to a nearby hospital but was declared dead by the attending physician.*
