One person died while another was injured after a motorcycle collided with a sugarcane truck in Sagay, Negros Occidental, City early Saturday morning, March 28.
Police said the victims, both male, have yet to be identified.
Investigation showed the motorcycle was traveling toward Brgy. Paraiso when it crashed into the rear of a truck loaded with sugarcane along the national road in Hacienda Ricky.
Authorities said both the driver and his back rider sustained injuries and were brought to a hospital.
The motorcycle driver was declared dead, while the passenger is undergoing treatment.
The truck driver, identified as a 50-year-old resident of Sagay, is now under police custody.
Police said the victims were allegedly under the influence of alcohol and may have lost control of the motorcycle.*
