Three more barangays in Murcia, Negros Occidental, receive ambulances in line with the thrust of Mayor Gerry Rojas to boost the delivery of healthcare services to his constituents.

Rojas, accompanied by the Sangguniang Bayan members, led the distribution on Tuesday, July 30, of three brand-new patient transport vehicles to barangays Buenavista, Sta. Rosa and Alegria located a considerable distance from the town proper, a press release from Murcia said.

In April the mayor also turned over two patient transport vehicles to barangays Cansilayan and Lopez Jaena as part of the mayor’s program to provide a brand-new patient transport vehicles to all the 23 barangays in Murcia.

“We have already distributed five ambulances to five rural barangays. Before the end of the year, we expect to distribute four more ambulances to another four barangays. We want to immediately provide each barangay with an ambulance, but our finances will not allow us. We will prioritize the far-flung barangays as our beneficiaries, as the poblacion barangays can be served by ambulances at our health center,” Rojas said

“These vehicles are intended to transport the patients from their barangay to the Murcia Health Center, where they can be attended to, and then sent back home if they are already well, or they will be sent aboard a bigger ambulance to a medical facility in Bacolod or Silay for more comprehensive medical attention,” Rojas added.*
