The Schools Division of Negros Occidental is working closely with the family of the Moises Padilla principal who fell off a roof and died to provide assistance, its spokesperson Ian Arnold Arnaez said on Thursday, August 1.

Reynaldo Mojares, 60, principal of the Guinpana-an Elementary School in Moises Padilla, passed away at the Riverside Medical Center in Bacolod City on Wednesday, July 31.

He reportedly saw a lot of leaves on the roof of a school building, climbed a ladder to remove them and fell hitting his head on Sunday, Arnaez said.

“The Schools Division of Negros Occidental is profoundly saddened by the untimely passing” of Reynaldo Mojares, Principal I of Guinpana-an Elementary School,” it said in a statement released Thursday.

It said with 30 years of dedicated service in the Department of Education, Mojares exemplified unwavering commitment to his profession, inspiring colleagues, family, and friends until the very end of his life.

“In this difficult time, the Department of Education – Negros Occidental is working closely with his family to provide whatever assistance they need, aiming to alleviate their burden,” the statement added.

The Division assured the learners, parents, and stakeholders of Guinpanaan Elementary School that an officer-in-charge has already been designated to ensure the continuity of school operations and services until a new school head is appointed.

“We invite the community to join us in praying for the eternal repose of Sir Mojares’ soul and to respect the family’s privacy as they grieve their loss”, it added.

A Guinpana-an Elementary School statement said “we lost an exceptional leader and colleague whose dedication, kindness, and vision profoundly impacted our school community”.

“Sir Reynaldo was not only an outstanding educator but also a true inspiration to us all. His commitment to fostering a nurturing and inclusive environment helped countless students thrive and succeed. He was always there to offer guidance, encouragement, and a listening ear, making every member of our school feel valued and supported,” it said.*
