About P5 million has been distributed to 979 indigents in a crisis situation in the Third District of Negros Occidental by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), which coordinated closely with the Office of Rep. Francisco “Kiko Benitez.
There were 341 residents of the Third District who received financial aid on November 19 and 20, a press release from the office of Benitez said.
Under the Assistance for Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program of the DSWD, qualified beneficiaries are provided cash aid for medical and burial assistance, it said.
The November AICS aid totaled to P 1.9 million for indigents in the cities of Victorias, Silay and Talisay and the municipalities of EB Magalona and Murcia.
Three payouts had also been made earlier this year with 284 recipients receiving P1.3 million in May, 187 getting P837,000 in July and 167 recipients receiving P 848,000 in September, the press release said.*
