Property giant Megaworld kicked off the holidays with the simultaneous Christmas lighting at its two townships in Bacolod City Monday night, November 21.

It kicked off its “Balik Gugma sa Paskwa” event at its 34-hectare The Upper East and 53-hectare Northill Gateway.

“Coming from the highly celebrated hosting of The Upper East of some of the major events in this year’s MassKara Festival, we are very happy to bring yet another exciting experience to the people of Bacolod. This holiday season, we want to honor the rich and colorful traditions we hold dear and keep alive, and hopefully pass on to the next generation,” Jennifer Palmares-Fong, vice president for sales and marketing of Megaworld Visayas, said.

Prominently featured in The Upper East is a giant, 20-feet tall Christmas tree in the Upper East Park, depicting the Nativity scene and other Pinoy Christmas icons.

At the bottom of the tree are small mosaic houses, which are also illuminated by bright lights.

The refurbished BMMC train, an iconic attraction at the 2,200-square meter curated park, has been decorated with colorful Christmas lights, while the Glass Tent nearby that serves as The Upper East Showroom, has been adorned with Christmas wreaths.

Visitors can also look forward to experiencing a Christmas Bazaar featuring local delicacies and other goods, as well as Weekend Acoustic Nights and White Christmas snow blast activities at the Upper East.

Meanwhile, the iconic Bacolod Welcome Marker just outside Forbes Hill at Northill Gateway became even more welcoming, picture-worthy, and festive-looking with a lit-up sleigh and reindeer, complete with dancing Christmas trees and giant gift boxes installed just below it.

“We hope to spark the spirit of the holiday season and be a part of every Bacolodnon family’s
celebrations by letting them enjoy a magical and colorful Christmas when they visit our Bacolod townships, helping them create new holiday memories together along the way,” Palmares-Fong
said.

“Balik Gugma sa Paskwa” runs until Jan. 15, 2023, with the Christmas Bazaar at The Upper East having its grand opening on November 22 and will be open daily from 4 p.m. to midnight, with Weekend Acoustic Nights happening from Fridays to Sundays, and White Christmas snow blasts nightly at 7 pm., the press release said.*
