Charges will be filed against persons applying for Bacolod City business permits online who misdeclare their information, Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez said Tuesday, January 2.
“It is at your own risk if you misdeclare”, the mayor warned. Criminal charges will be filed against violators, he said.
Among such violations are misdeclarations of gross sales, Benitez said.
“If they are caught for sure they will be paying more than had they declared properly,” Benitez said.
They could then face closure of businesses, City Legal Officer Romeo Carlos Ting said.
The City government will continue to aggressively inspect businesses in Bacolod City to ensure they have business permits, Ting said.
The mayor is also seeking a review of city ordinances on businesses selling liquor to minors and operating near schools and churches for the possible increase of fines and penalties.
Benitez said he and the members of the city council will hold their yearly get together to discuss priorities and things that can be improved in the city’s ordinances.*
