
Barangay Mansilingan was declared the Electric MassKara and Float Parade competition grand champion Friday night, Oct. 17, for its float titled “Cakes of Bacolod.”
The design highlighted Bacolod’s love for cakes and sweets, capturing the hearts of both judges and spectators.
Mansilingan brought home ₱350,000 and a trophy, along with several special awards including Best Float, Best Mask and Costume, and Best Music, each with a ₱10,000 cash prize.
Taking First Place was Barangay 12 with its float showcasing the “Bacolod Public Plaza”, a tribute to one of the city’s most iconic landmarks. The Mansilingan team earned ₱200,000 and a trophy for their creative effort.
Barangay Granada claimed second place for its lively “Inasal Festival” entry, a flavorful celebration of Bacolod’s famous chicken inasal. The Granada team also received the Most Disciplined Award and took home ₱150,000 and a trophy.


The competition featured several themed categories that highlighted Bacolod’s vibrant culture and attractions:
· One Smile Category: Rhum Festival (Brgy. 5), Inasal Festival (Brgy. Granada), Film Festival (Brgy. Cabug), and Bacolaodiat Festival (Brgy. 34).
· One City Category: Bacolod Public Plaza (Brgy. 12), San Sebastian Cathedral (Brgy. 33), The Art District (Brgy. 19), and Yulos Park (Brgy. 8).
· One Heart Category: Cansi sa Bacolod (Brgy. 17), Bacolod Seafood (Brgy. 2), Bacolod Pasalubong (Brgy. 32), and Cakes of Bacolod (Brgy. Mansilingan).
The event featured the participation of Barangays Cabug, Granada, Mansilingan, 2, 5, 8, 12, 17, 19, 32, 33, and 34, each bringing its own creative touch to the celebration.
“This year’s festival was not only a contest of floats and artistry but also a celebration of Bacolod’s unity, pride, and joyful spirit. Every smile and cheer reminded everyone why Bacolod truly deserves its title as the City of Smiles”, Gugma Foundation organizers said.*
