Police recovered an unlicensed firearm and ammunition during the implementation of a search warrant in Isabela, Negros Occidental, on Sunday, June 28.
The operation was conducted at the residence of alias “Ray,” 35, in Sitio Sumilang, Brgy. Cansalongon.
Police said the suspect was not present during the search and remains at large.
Authorities recovered a Smith & Wesson .38 caliber revolver, four rounds of .38 caliber ammunition, and a black sling bag from the premises.
The Isabela Municipal Police Station reported that the search warrant was issued following complaints from residents that the suspect allegedly carried and brandished the firearm in public, particularly when intoxicated.
Residents also claimed that he habitually brought the firearm when leaving home to provide repair services.
Police said barangay records showed previous complaints for alarm and scandal involving the suspect’s alleged disorderly behavior while under the influence of alcohol.
The search was conducted in the presence of the suspect’s wife and required witnesses and was recorded using alternative recording devices.
The seized firearm will be submitted to the Negros Occidental Provincial Forensic Unit for ballistic examination.
Police are preparing the appropriate complaint for violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.*
