Man beheaded in spot where cop killed, head found in separate area

A man was beheaded at about 9:15 p.m. Tuesday, August 31, in the same spot where a policeman was shot dead at Rosario Street, Barangay 38, Bacolod City, on Sunday, PMaj. Ramel Sarona, Police Station 1 chief, said.

A head was found soon after in Purok Sigay, Barangay 2, Bacolod City.

The police are determining if the head belongs to the headless body found in Barangay 38, Sarona said.

A message, on a cardboard beside the headless body, said “Bayad sa utang!!! Interest palang…Capital preparar para suma total!!! Halong Bacolod (Payment for a debt!!!This is just the interest …prepare capital for the total!!! Be careful Bacolod).”

Witnesses said two vehicles with about eight persons on board arrived at Rosario Street and unloaded what appeared to be the body of a dead unidentified male, as they fired their guns in the air.

One person then got off the vehicle, beheaded the man, and placed the head in a sack and left with it, Sarona said.

The dead man who was handcuffed in the back, was wearing checkered shorts and a grey shirt. His body appeared to have gunshot and stab wounds, Sarona said.

They are still investigating if the beheading is related to the killing of SSgt Joseph Nepomuceno, Sarona said.

Nepomuceno, 37, of the police Drug Enforcement Unit was on his motorcycle when he was shot to death by unknown assailants also on board a motorcycle at Rosario Street at about 5:15 p.m. Sunday, August 29.

The men who unloaded the body at Rosario Street were on board what were believed to be grey and black Toyota Innovas, Sarona said.

The police recovered what appeared to be empty cartridges of .45 caliber and 9 mm pistols, he added.*
