Mayor Marvin Malacon congratulated all the E. B. Magalona winners of the Area III Athletic Meet 2023 that was held in Talisay City March 17 to 19.
“My heartfelt congratulations to all the Saraviahanon winners of the recently concluded Area III Athletic Meet. Thank you for representing our municipality in this sports competition with great pride, honor, and exemplary sense of sportsmanship. You have proudly raised our flag”, he said in a press release from the EB Magalona public information office.
All the gold medalists from E. B. Magalona, both from the elementary and secondary levels, their coaches, and school heads paid a courtesy call on Malacon Wednesday, March 22.
They were accompanied by DepEd- District of E. B. Magalona Cluster 1 Supervisor Angeles Verdeprado, E. B. Magalona National High School assistant principal Gloria Gustilo, and E. B. Magalona Elementary School principal Rufino Delfin and EBMNHS teacher Harlene Pasignahin, who also both served as athletic managers.
“Congratulations for a job well done. Aside from your skills and talent, you have shown us your strong determination, patience, and discipline in this competition. These are the values that made you win,” Malacon told the athletes during their courtesy call.
“There are many factors that could help a person succeed in life. For some people, excellence in sports is one of these factors. May your training in sports at such an early age contribute to your success in the near future,” the mayor added.
Malacon also congratulated the school heads and the teacher-coaches for investing time and resources in the training of the Saraviahanon athletes.
The mayor said he will treat the winning Saraviahanon athletes and their coaches to a day of fun-filled activities at a new waterpark in Bacolod.
The E. B. Magalona delegation won gold medals and trophies in the following events:
ELEMENTARY LEVEL:
Athletics Boys – 110-M Hurdle, Javelin Throw, Discus Throw
Athletics Girls – 110-M Hurdle (2), 200-M Hurdle, Shotput, Javelin Throw
Arnis Boys – Double Weapon Category
SECONDARY LEVEL:
Athletics Boys – 100-M Hurdle, 400-M Hurdle, High Jump, Discus Throw, Shotput, Javelin Throw
Athletic Girls— 100-M Sprint, 200-M Sprint, 400-M Sprint, 400-M Hurdle, 4 x 100-M Relay, 4 x 400-M Relay, Triple Jump, Long Jump, Shotput
Taekwondo Boys – Featherweight
Boxing Boys – Junior (52- 54 kg)
Billiards Boys – 9-Ball
Billiards Girls – 9-Ball, 8-Ball
The winners in these sports events will represent the Third District to the Provincial Meet 2023 on March 30 to April 2, which will be held in Bacolod and neighboring cities.*
