The Land Transportation Office-Negros Island Region urged commuters to avoid colorum and unauthorized public utility vehicles, warning that using unregistered or non-franchised transport could put passengers at risk.
In a statement issued Tuesday, Oct. 20, LTO-NIR officer-in-charge Regional Director Jeck Conlu advised the public to use only legal, registered and franchise-compliant transport services.
Conlu said that passengers should not risk their safety by riding vehicles operating outside government regulation.
LTO-NIR said colorum vehicles bypass requirements on registration, roadworthiness inspections and other safety standards imposed on legitimate public transport operators.
The agency also warned that unauthorized operations undermine accredited transport providers that comply with government regulations.
LTO-NIR said it is continuing field enforcement drives, vehicle inspection operations and inter-agency anti-colorum operations across Negros Occidental, Negros Oriental and Siquijor.
The regional office said the campaign is aimed at strengthening road safety while protecting passengers and legitimate transport operators.*
