The Land Transportation Office–Negros Island Region will deploy additional personnel from its Regional Enforcement Team in February to strengthen road safety and monitoring operations.
LTO–NIR Officer-in-Charge Regional Director Jeck Conlu confirmed the plan during a radio interview on Jan. 29.
Conlu said the new personnel are currently undergoing training as the agency works to establish a dedicated regional enforcement team to augment existing district office units.
The team will focus on inspecting public utility vehicles, including verification of drivers and conductors, to ensure compliance with traffic and safety regulations.
Conlu said the LTO–NIR initially operated without a centralized regional enforcement team and relied only on a skeletal force, which was not enough to cover the entire Negros Island Region.
The LTO–NIR said stricter monitoring of traffic violations will be implemented to help reduce road accidents and improve commuter and motorist safety across the region.*
