Let People Power serve as a driving force that will allow us to triumph against the odds that came with the COVID-19 pandemic, Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia said Friday, February 25.

Leonardia, in his message on the 36th anniversary of EDSA people power, said “the peaceful revolt brought together Filipinos from all walks, who shared a common aspiration. It showcased the resiliency of our people.”

This year’s commemoration anchored on the theme, “Pagtutulungan Tungo Sa Sama-samang Pagbangon Mula sa Pandemya (Working Together Towards a Collective Recovery From the Pandemic)”, highlights the resilience of Filipinos and the strong resolve to win the battle against the COVID-19, he said.

“This is a fitting occasion to also honor our health frontliners, our defenders against the pandemic, as they risked their lives, and sacrificed their precious time in their pursuit to save millions of people instead of staying within the comforts of their homes,” Leonardia said.*
