There were three leptospirosis cases in Bacolod City from Jan. 1 to 11, the City Health Office reported on Monday.
Those hit with leptospirosis were from barangays Estefania, Mansilingan, and 12.
It was a 50 percent increase in cases compared to last year, the CHO said.
The CHO reminded the public to always use boots when walking in floodwaters, not to swim in contaminated water, clean up trash to avoid rats that cause leptospirosis, and seek early consultation if exhibiting signs of the disease.
Meanwhile, there were 22 cases of dengue in the city from Jan. 1 to 11, a 46.7 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
Barangays Singcang-Airport and Villamonte have the highest number of cases with three each, while Banago, Mandalagan, Tangub, and Mansilingan have two each, CHO added.*
