Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson is leaving the investigation into the alleged slapping of a 15-year-old boy by Murcia Vice Mayor Johnny Reosura to the police to investigate.
Lacson said he heard that the incident was reported to the Murcia police and the Women and Children Protection Desk that handles Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act complaints.
“It is an unfortunate incident but both sides should be heard, let’s hear from the accused also,” he said.
The 15-year-old, whose name is being withheld for being a minor, claimed he was slapped by Reosura on November 2 at a house near the Bacolod Golf and Country Club in Murcia.
The slapping incident was allegedly triggered after the boy and the vice mayor’s nephew figured in a fight. Reosura was allegedly angry over the use of brass knuckles that injured his nephew.
The aunts of the boy said the vice mayor had no right to slap their nephew, they want justice for what he did.
Reosura denied that he slapped the boy, he said he only held his mouth.
He said the matter had already been settled but a politician was riding on the issue in an attempt to destroy his reputation, Reosura said.*
