The Energy Development Corp. will operate its Bago Binary Geothermal Power Plant in Bago City at an about 5-megawatt capacity, Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson said on Friday, June 23.
The plant was initially envisioned to produce 40 megawatts but it caused the clogging of its wells that is why EDC is now opting to operate at a lesser capacity, he said.
EDC has given the green light to its contractor to start readying the plant for operations and assured that no trees will be cut in the area, Lacson said.
The firm’s representatives met with the governor recently to give him an update on the status of the plant.*
