La Carlota CSWDO denies corruption in handling donations

The La Carlota City government, through its City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), has strongly denied allegations of mismanagement and corruption in the handling of donations for its internally displaced persons (IDPs) affected by the Mt. Kanlaon eruption.

“These baseless accusations, posted on the La Carlota Pulse page, aim to divide and misinform the public,” the CSWDO statement on its Facebook page said on Saturday, Jan. 4.

The CSWDO assured that its evacuation center donation management adheres strictly to national policies and guidelines.

“Our camp management ensures fair distribution of assistance, transparency, and accountability. Donations are recorded, acknowledged, and distributed equitably among IDPs,” it said.

They invite donors before they directly distribute aid to IDPs to coordinate with the La Carlota City government designated Donation Management Desk for proper inventory recording and acknowledgment of donated goods, it said.

“We condemn these unfounded claims and appreciate the public’s understanding”, the CSWDO statement said.*
