Kiko leads opening of CHED sub-reg’l office

The Commission on Higher Education Sub-Regional Office 6 opened at the Carlos Hilado Memorial State University in Talisay City, Negros Occidental, on Friday, October 20.

This will bring frontline services closer to public and private colleges and universities in Negros Occidental, especially in the Third District, Rep. Francisco “Kiko” Benitez (Neg. Occ., 3rd District) said.

“This is a major step that answers in many ways the question of accessibility needed by Negrenses as a whole,” he said.

The opening was led by Benitez with CHED Chairperson Prospero de Vera III, Executive Director Cindy Benitez-Jaro, Regional Director Raul Alvarez, and CHMSU President Norbertto Mangulabnan.

Rep. Mercedes Alvarez (Neg. Occ., 6th District), Rep. Greg Gasataya (Bacolod), Silay City Mayor Joedith Gallego, and Talisay City Executive Assistant Chino Coscolluela also attended the opening.

Benitez said he hopes for regular appropriate funding for the sub-regional office to ensure better services are given to local colleges and universities.*
