There are five local government units in Negros Occidental who had more than 30,000 residents still unvaccinated against COVID-19 among their target populations as of July 16.
The topnotcher is Kabankalan City that needs to vaccinate 54,446 residents to reach its target, San Carlos City – 50,506, Bago City – 38,089, Calatrava – 34,261 and Cauayan – -32,519, a report from Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz showed Thursday, July 21.
The province has fully vaccinated 66.04 percent or 1,385,900 residents out of its 2,098,421 target population, and 71.37 percent or 1,497,683 residents of the target have been vaccinated with at least one dose.
The two LGUS that have vaccinated below 50 percent of their target population with first doses are Calatrava with 49.43 percent and Toboso with 44.06 percent.
“We vaccinated everybody who wants and needs to be vaccinated, those who do not want to be vaccinated we cannot impose it against their will, “Diaz said.
He said because of the low vaccination rate in some LGUs their alert levels cannot be de-escalated so their activities are still limited.
“We have to continue to convince more people to get vaccinated,” Diaz said.
LGUs with less than 10,000 remaining targets for vaccination as of July 16 are Pulupandan with 2,546, La Carlota City – 2,883, San Enrique – 3,505, Candoni – 3,997, Valladolid – 6,942, Salvador Benedicto – 7,595, Pontevedra – 8,337 and EB Magalona – 9,720.
The 13 LGUs that have fully vaccinated more than 70 percent of their target population are La Carlota City – 88.93 percent, Pulupandan – 83.93 percent, Cadiz City – 79.67 percent, Sagay City – 79.34 percent, San Enrique – 78.46 percent, EB Magalona – 77.80 percent, Candoni – 76.19 percent, Murcia – 73.62 percent, Pontevedra – 73.44 percent, Victorias City – 72.38 percent, Ilog – 71.19 percent, Valladolid – 70.95 –percent and Talisay City – 70.78 percent.
The five LGUs that have fully vaccinated between 60 to 70 percent of their target population are Bago City – 69.61 percent, Silay City – 68.79 percent, Escalante City – 62.52 percent, La Castellana – 61.93 percent and Himamaylan City – 61.69 percent.*
