Kabankalan City opened its border to Mabinay, Negros Oriental, residents starting today, March 1, Mayor Pedro Zayco said.

Zayco said entry into Kabankalan is strictly limited to residents of Mabinay bearing identification cards issued by their town mayor, those from other parts of Negros Oriental were turned back.

Entry of Mabinay residents is strictly limited within the borders of Kabankalan City, Executive Order No. 21-12, Series of 2021 issued by Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson states.

Their stay in Kabankalan is limited to 12 hours, Zayco said.

Twelve hours is enough time for Mabinay residents to do their business in Kabankalan, Zayco said.

Mabinay residents who enter Kabankalan log in at the border checkpoint and log out when they leave, he said.

Those who exceed 12 hours will be quarantined by the Mabinay local government, Zayco said.

Zayco said Negros Oriental no longer has checkpoints at its borders, they are only on the Occidental side.*
