Senator Imee Marcos*

Senator Imee Marcos stressed the need to update the Department of Agriculture’s Registry System for the Basic Sectors in Agriculture (RSBSA) to ensure needed assistance to drought-hit farmers in Negros Occidental.

The outdated RSBSA system has delayed the distribution of P5,000 each to qualified rice farmers in Negros Occidental, said Marcos who was in Calatrava, Negros Occidental, on Saturday, March 9.

The senator urged local government units in Negros Occidental to get involved in the updating of the RSBSA as it is important for the farmers to get their share.

The RSBSA is a registry of farmers, fisherfolk, and farm laborers that serves as a targeting mechanism for the identification of beneficiaries for different agriculture-related programs and services of the government.

Marcos distributed P6 million in Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations from Calatrava and Escalante City on Saturday.

Marcos, who was accompanied by Rep. Gerardo Valmayor Jr., distributed the assistance to senior citizens, persons with disabilities, students, tricycle drivers and solo parents at rites held in Calatrava.

She said the 1,000 recipients in Calatrava town and 1,000 from Escalante identified by the Department of Social Welfare and Development, received P3,000 each.*
