Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) that helps one “heal faster and feel better” is now available in Bacolod City.

The Advanced Hyperbaric Healthcare Center that is now fully operational is located at the corner of Narra and CL Montelibano Avenue in Barangay Villamonte.

However, its official launching will be on March 20, Jonathan Lo, one of its owners, said. The other owners are Jesus Co, and Jacinto and Shirley Palma, Lo said.

HBOT is a non-invasive, well-established medical treatment that enhances the body’s natural healing process and strengthens the immune system by using prescribed high-pressure oxygen, that treats a variety of health conditions and diseases, Dr. Philton Yu, a doctor at the clinic, said.

The Bacolod center has two state-of-the-art computerized hyperbaric oxygen chambers engineered and built in Germany, Lo said. The larger chamber can comfortably seat up to 12 persons and the smaller one can accommodate four persons.

A patient who goes for HBOT undergoes a teleconsultation with the clinic’s doctor and a rapid test for COVID-19.

On entering the hyperbaric chamber a patient can relax and breathe normally during the 90-minute treatment while watching a movie.

All sessions are monitored by a trained medical team who are in constant communication with the patient inside the chamber.

The term “hyperbaric” is defined as gas at a pressure greater than normal.

Compared to breathing normal air at sea level, hyperbaric oxygen-rich air will drive up to 12 times more oxygen into the bloodstream and other fluids, including lymph and cerebrospinal fluid, Yu said.

Each cell in the body needs oxygen to preserve, repair, and enhance cellular function.

Breathing 100 percent oxygen in a pressurized chamber at a pressure greater than sea level helps flood the body with enhanced oxygen, allowing a higher concentration of oxygen to reach the tissues of the body

It accelerates the body’s natural healing process leading to a cascade of positive benefits, Yu said.
