Huge INC rally in Bacolod Monday, afternoon work at Capitol suspended

Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson has ordered the suspension of work at all Capitol-based provincial government offices in Bacolod City Monday afternoon, Jan. 13.

The suspension of work was ordered in view of the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) National Rally for Peace at the Capitol Park and Lagoon in Bacolod on Monday that is expected to be attended by more than 20,000 members.

There will be a temporary closure of roads from 6 a.m. to midnight on Monday for the INC rally, Jose Antonio Robello, Bacolod Traffic and Transportation Management Department deputy, reiterated.

To be closed are the North and South Capitol roads, Lacson Street from Cottage Road to 15th street, and a portion of 6th Street, the city government announced.

Robello said the following temporary traffic scheme changes will be enforced:
*Cottage Road: One-way westbound;
*Aguinaldo Street: One-way northbound; and
*Gatuslao Street: One-way southbound.

He advised the public to use alternate routes to avoid the closed streets.

Use navigation apps like Waze or Google Maps for real-time traffic updates and alternative routes, he said.

Avoid parking near the Capitol Park and Lagoon to prevent being trapped in congestion, he said.*
