House expels Teves for disorderly behavior

Rep. Arnolfo “Arnie” Teves Jr. (Neg. Or., 3rd District) was expelled from the House of Representatives by a vote of 265-0-3 on Wednesday, August 16.

Teves, who has been tagged as a terrorist and the mastermind behind the death of former Gov. Roel Degamo, has refused to return to the country.

The House of Representatives in a historic move adopted the findings and recommendations of the Committee on Ethics and Privileges calling for the expulsion of Teves.

The committee cited Teves pursuit of asylum in Timor-Leste, continued absence without leave from the House, and “indecent behavior” on social media.

Teves was expelled for “for disorderly behavior and for violation of the Code of Conduct of the House of Representatives”.

The members from the Makabayan bloc abstained from voting.*
