A man died after the police shot him when he refused to surrender after allegedly stabbing his friend in Sitio Tugbungan, Brgy. 2, Hinigaran, Negros Occidental, on Monday, February 26.
Maj. Clifford Batadhay, Hinigaran Police Chief, told DIGICAST NEGROS that Alladic Palcotan died when members of Special Action Force shot him after he fired his gun multiple times.
Palcotan allegedly stabbed Eduard Acupan, his friend, after a heated argument, Batadhay said.
The suspect, who was allegedly under the influence of illegal drugs, refused to surrender after the incident and was armed with a .45 caliber pistol.
Brgy. 2 Capt. Prudencio Villarias said that he tried to negotiate with the suspect to surrender but he resisted so they sought the help of the police.
When Batadhay together with SAF responded, Palcotan allegedly fired his gun multiple times causing the police to shoot back.
The incident resulted to Palcotan’s death, while Acupan who was injured was brought to a Bacolod hospital, the police said.*
