The Orange Project, as part of its 20th anniversary, will feature with “Hiblá,” a special photography exhibition opening 3 p.m Saturday, September 13.
The exhibit, a collaboration with FotomotoPH and the Foundation University Department of Fine Arts, will be held at the Main Gallery of the Orange Project at the Art District in Barangay Mandalagan, Bacolod City.
It runs until October 29.
“Hiblá,” which means “thread” in Filipino, highlights the gallery’s enduring role as a central hub for contemporary art and community engagement, a press release from Orange Project said.
The exhibit features a curated selection of works from nine photographers: Faye Abantao, Jhundel Asunan, Cru Camara, Stephanie Frondoso, Tommy Haffalla, Nap Jamir, Neal Oshima, Sonny Thakur, and MM Yu.
The collection, which includes both analogue and digital photographs — some never before publicly displayed, weaves together multiple layers of connection.
Viewers are invited to explore the intricate relationships between the artist, medium, and subject; history, image, and context; and local, national, and global perspectives, the press release said.
The exhibition uses a unique curatorial approach, referencing a “thread” as a visual conversation that mixes photos, videos, and texts to tell a richer story.
As the Orange Project enters its third decade, “Hiblá” serves as a powerful testament to its commitment to fostering artistic innovation, promoting the exchange of knowledge, and nurturing sustainable creative practices, the press release said.
This dynamic presentation honors the gallery’s past while actively engaging with the present and gesturing toward a future shaped by shared visions and meaningful collaborations, it said.
The exhibition not only celebrates two decades of artistic contributions but also reinforces the Orange Project’s dedication to supporting the vibrant arts scene in the Philippines.*
