BACOLOD CITY, Philippines —Healthcare and Technology Institute Inc. (HCT) and Colegio San Agustin-Bacolod (CSA-B) have entered into a two-year partnership to strengthen nursing education through an innovative, technology-enabled Healthcare Education System designed to connect classroom learning, simulation, clinical skills development and competency assessment within one coordinated learning environment.
The program will support 410 nursing students from CSA-B’s College of Health and Allied Professions. Rather than introducing a single technology or stand-alone intervention, the partnership brings together multiple educational technologies and learning components under one integrated system that can be embedded into the nursing curriculum and developed as part of an institution’s broader innovation and digital transformation agenda.
At the center of the system is a combination of immersive virtual reality, simulation-based education, digital study resources, clinical skills development, training equipment, faculty enablement, learner assessment and implementation support. The model is designed to help schools move beyond isolated technology purchases toward a connected educational technology infrastructure that supports how students learn, practice, are assessed and progress.
Through the partnership, CSA-B students will use immersive clinical simulation through the UbiSim platform, supported by dedicated VR headsets, connectivity infrastructure and implementation support. These experiences will complement simulation and skills-based learning activities and give students repeated opportunities to assess patients, recognize changes in condition, prioritize interventions and strengthen clinical reasoning in controlled learning environments.
The program begins with Level 2 nursing students in School Year 2026–2027 and will continue with the same cohort as they advance to Level 3 in School Year 2027–2028. Simulation-based learning activities and competency-focused assessments will be incorporated across the academic cycle to reinforce decision-making, clinical judgment and readiness for more complex learning experiences.
HCT will also work with CSA-B faculty on orientation, onboarding, implementation and the effective use of educational technology within teaching and assessment. This faculty component is intended to help ensure that innovation is translated into curriculum use, measurable learning outcomes and sustainable institutional capability rather than remaining a stand-alone technology initiative.

On September 30, HCT will also bring international healthcare simulation leaders to the Philippines for direct engagement with HCT partner institutions and the wider healthcare education community. The sessions will give academic leaders and faculty access to international perspectives on simulation technology, educational design, standards, faculty development, assessment and the future of technology-enabled healthcare learning.
The visiting speakers include international leaders with experience across SESAM, INACSL, Vanderbilt University and Stanford. Their participation reinforces HCT’s goal of connecting local institutions not only with innovative technology, but also with global expertise, emerging practices and international perspectives on the future of healthcare education.
