Ensure Negros Occidental has peaceful elections in May.
That is what he expects of the new Negros Occidental provincial police director and elections supervisor, Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson said on Tuesday, January 11.
Col. Leo Pamittan, who replaced Col. Romy Palgue as Negros Occidental provincial director, met with Lacson at the governor’s office at the Capitol in Bacolod City on Tuesday.
Maintaining peace and order in the province should be his priority, Lacson said.
Lacson said he was very happy with Palgue’s work in Negros Occidental. The Negros Occidental Provincial Police Office was named best performing office twice under Palgue’s watch, Lacson pointed out.
“I like it that he was very close to the Lord, he always mentioned the need for guidance from the Lord,” Lacson said of Palgue.
Lacson said he hopes the Philippine National Police gives Palgue a new assignment that will boost his career.
On the appointment of Roberto Salazar, as acting provincial elections supervisor for the election period, Lacson said he can work with anybody.
He just wants Salazar to ensure peaceful, honest and orderly elections, Lacson said.
Lacson said the calls to extend the term of the president and other officials are unconstitutional.
He does not think there is a demand for an extension of terms. The president has already said he will step down and retire in Davao, Lacson pointed out.
The governor said he has already chosen his bet for president in the May 9 polls but will not announce who it is, he will focus on his own campaign.*
