
The One Negros Response Team had delivered 52,100 liters of potable water to earthquake survivors in one city and two towns in Cebu as of Sunday, Oct. 5, Negros Occidental Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz said.
The water was delivered to residents of Bogo City, and Borbon and Tabuelan towns in northern Cebu.
A total of 209,972 families (372,513 individuals) in Cebu province were affected by the magnitude 6.9 earthquake on Sept. 30, a situation report released by the Cebu provincial government Sunday morning said.
Of the total, 26,140 families were displaced, it said.
There were 71 confirmed fatalities, 3 missing, and 592 injured, it added.
Their priority needs are food and potable water, modular tents and shelter materials, hygiene kits and medical supplies, and water tankers and generators, the Cebu provincial government said.
Irene Bel Ploteña, head of the Negros Occidental Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), said the One Negros Response Team could stay in Cebu until Thursday, depending on the needs in the area.
She said the earthquake destroyed and damaged many houses and commercial buildings in Bogo City.
The Negros Occidental provincial government officials led by Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson and Vice Governor Jose Benito Alonso thanked and commended nine local government units for being part of the One Negros Response Team to Cebu, particularly in Bogo City,
The nine LGUs are the cities of San Carlos, Sipalay, Silay, Sagay, Cadiz, Talisay, Escalante, and Victorias City, and the municipality of Toboso.
