Guv: Smaller bulk water project would serve needs of only 3 LGUs

Malogo River in EB Magalona*

Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson said if the provincial government decides to go ahead with a small scale bulk water project it would probably only cover three local government units.

If they tap water from the Malogo River the project would only serve the water needs of EB Magalona, Victorias City and Manapla, Lacson said on Thursday, Feb. 26.

The provincial government may scrap the bulk water project entirely or proceed with one on a smaller scale, he said.

Lacson reiterated that he respects the Silay Sangguniang Panlungsod’s denial of the provincial government’s request for a Resolution of No Objection (RONO) for its proposed ₱1.2 billion Negros Occidental Bulk Water Supply Project.

The project would have tapped water from the Hinalinan/Imbang River located in Barangay Guimbala-on, Silay .*
