Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson and 1,700 Negros Occidental provincial government employees underwent mandatory drug tests at the provincial Capitol in Bacolod City on Monday, Dec. 11, Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz said.

Board Members Andrew Montelibano and Manuel Frederick Ko also underwent drug tests.

More provincial government employees will also be subjected to drugs tests on Tuesday, Dec. 12.

Diaz said the drugs tests will cover 3,000 provincial government employees.

Drug tests for employees at provincial government hospitals will be on Friday, Dec. 15.

“It’s mandatory. So no one can escape it…the aim is to have a drug free workplace,” Diaz said.

Those who do not comply will be subjected to sanctions. It is a condition for their continued employment, he said.

The testing covers the elected officials, department heads, regular employees, and casuals, contract of service and job order workers.*
